I don't know how I would be today if I had not started my yoga practice the day following my formal diagnosis. It has made it possible for me to be mindful of every part of my body. It has provided me a way to develop appropriate, functional muscular development. I move with confidence. My body movements flow and glide, they are not jerky. I am convinced the the daily practice of yoga together with Mindful Swift Walking are the twin pillars supporting my body-mind so that I still do not need medication.
The key to learning yoga is to find the right instructor; one who listens to you and offers help when Parkinson's confuses your body mind. But two classes a week is not enough. Yoga needs to become an everyday, integral part of your life.
